What do Six Sigma Green Belts do?

Six Sigma Green Belts are expected to deliver the agreed benefits of a Six Sigma project for an organisation.

Green Belts usually work to implement improvement in their normal work area. They generally will work with local management to identify and quantify opportunities for improvement within the local environment. Green Belts may coach Yellow Belts on process improvement methods and activities.

In some instances Green Belts may work under the direction of a Six Sigma Black Belt, or a Master Black Belt. Black Belt’s will often train, coach and mentor Green Belts on DMAIC methodology and process improvement techniques.

ISO 18404:2015, the standard for Six Sigma and Lean implementation, outlines the 23 Green Belt competencies.
