Bywater was founded in 1982 as a training and consultancy organisation focused on delivering Strategy and Management Systems consultancy, mainly to the Oil and Gas industry. Our reputation in this sector enabled Bywater to expand its services globally to meet the growing demand for Management Systems consultancy and training.

In the late 1980s and 1990s Bywater continued to develop its consultancy capability into other strategic business improvement areas, enhancing further our reputation in the marketplace, building a strong client base consisting of FTSE and Fortune 500 companies as well as many small and medium sized businesses.

In 2002 Bywater was acquired by Axon, a UK SAP implementation consultancy. As well as continuing to deliver stand-alone consultancy and training programmes Bywater provided strategic consultancy support to clients undergoing major SAP implementation projects. Bywater returned to private ownership when Axon was acquired by the global technology company HCL for £450 million in 2008.

At the beginning of 2015 having worked together for a number of years and sharing similar values Bywater and Excel merged. This enabled us to provide our customers with access to a greater range of Management Systems and Auditor training options, extending across the business sectors to offer the best of both venue and location and deliver a better learning experience for our customers.

Bywater is based in Esher, Surrey and continues to be a leading provider of management systems and other business improvement training and consultancy services including procurement, contract management, strategy formulation, financial planning and leadership and management development.
