Laura, the Quality Manager at NSI organised and attended Introduction to ISO 27001 in May 2017, she explains how the course has enabled staff to understand the possible threats and what actions they need to take to achieve ISO 27001 compliance. By organising it In-house meant it was very cost effective for NSI.

What were your training objectives?

We are looking at implementing an ISMS in house, so all staff were invited to attend as the ISMS will involve all aspects of the business. A general understanding of ISMS was our main objective.

What learning did you take from the course?

The course gave a general introduction to ISMS and then went into further detail about ISO 27001 and how to apply the standard. This part was particularly useful for me as I will be the person responsible for managing our compliance.

Have you been able to apply anything since the course?

The course has enabled us to look at our existing documentation and identify the areas that we need to work on. It was also good to know that we are doing things correctly and are on the right track to achieving compliance!

What have been the benefits for you and the business?

The general feedback from the staff was that they learnt a lot about the principles of ISMS and it opened their eyes to the extent of the information security threats that are out there. For our appointed in house ISMS team, we have been able to clarify our plan for implementation and focus on the way forward.

What were the benefits of having the training In-house at your organisation?

This enabled us to put forward 15 delegates which made it extremely cost effective.

Would you recommend Bywater?

Yes, I have had a very positive experience book with the booking system and the courses provided.
