Before and during the course FAQs
The Core Tools courses are one element of our business improvement training programme, which also covers
- Lean: reducing waste, cutting costs and increasing customer value

- Root Cause Analysis: identify and addressing causes of process problems

The Process Mapping training course is one segment in our full programme of ISO 9001 training courses, and complements our CQI and IRCA certified lead and internal auditor training.
We also offer a wide range of training for business improvement and leadership to help employees extend their knowledge.
With over 40 years of training experience and a commitment to continual improvement of our courses, we are the leading independent training provider in the UK.
We employ tutors who combine significant practical expertise in the real world with an ability to make complex information easy for delegates to understand.
Past attendees to this course have highlighted the tutor’s willingness to tailor the course content to the business needs of the delegates. In their feedback they also point to the tutor’s ability to illustrate each topic with an entertaining story from their own experience, keeping delegates engaged throughout the course.
It will help you make the most of the course from the start if you complete the pre-course work that we will send you with your joining instructions.
You may also find it useful to bring your own copy of the ISO 9001:2015 standard, which you can then use for reference during the week. If you are already running a quality management system in your organisation, you may have access to an office copy of the standard. Alternatively, you can purchase a copy from ISO or one of its international resellers. If you have problems, do contact us.
You will need some basic understanding of ISO 9001 and quality management systems to get the most out of the internal auditor training. If you do not have that knowledge you can first attend our 1-day Introduction to ISO 9001:2015 course, which we run on the day before the internal auditor training course. Book both these courses together and you can receive a discount.
You may receive pre-course work to do, and we advise completing this as it will give you a head start in maximising benefit from the course.
We will send your course materials in advance, and you should bring these with you if you are attending in person.
You may find it useful to bring a copy of the ISO 9001:2015 standard to reference throughout the course. If you do not have a copy in the office, you can purchase one from the ISO’s own website or from its international resellers.
We have enjoyed the company of delegates from many organisations within the medical manufacturing industry, including those involved in products such as ventilators and wound protection.
As one delegate reported: ‘It was very useful to learn about the gold standard from many different industries and where we sit with regards to other companies within medical devices, and to learn of all the ways that we can improve.’
We run the ISO 45001 Auditor Migration training course in our Virtual Classroom. This online course is delivered as live training, enabling delegates from around the world to work together in discussion groups and interact with tutors. Alternatively, if you have a number of employees requiring training, we can run a dedicated course at a venue and time of your choice.
While both of these ISO standards relate to quality management systems, there are some significant differences. For example, ISO 9001 focuses on achieving increased customer satisfaction through continuous improvement. Device safety is the important factor in ISO 13485 and medical device regulation (MDR), and the aim is to maintain effectiveness. The two approaches also differ in the demands for documentation, record keeping and risk management.
This Bywater ISO 45001 Implementation training course includes our Introduction to ISO 45001:2018 training, which is approved by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
Approval from IOSH gives you the confidence that the course meets the Institute’s high standards for quality in content and trainer expertise.
We offer this specialised course on a dedicated basis specifically for your organisation. That gives you the opportunity to choose venue – face-to-face or in our Virtual Classroom – and a time and date to suit you. We can also discuss how we can tailor the training to suit your organisation’s needs.
