ISO 14001:2026 Transition Workshop

This 3-hour interactive workshop will explore the new changes to ISO 14001 in clear, practical detail.  Whilst the changes to requirements are not considered to be of major significance, this is an opportunity for organisations certified to ISO 14001:2015 to review and enhance their environmental management system (EMS) in addition to maintaining compliance.

In particular, the revised standard provides expanded guidance on environmental issues related to an organisation’s context and offers greater flexibility around documented information requirements. These updates create opportunities for improved efficiency within organisations and require auditors to understand and adapt to the new expectations.

By the end of the workshop, you will have a solid understanding of the changes and their implications for auditors, EMS managers, and certification compliance. All delegates will receive a certificate to evidence their continuing professional development (CPD).

Please note, this workshop will be based on the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) once it is released in early 2026. The content described here reflects the changes currently planned but may be updated as the FDIS and final published standard are confirmed.

This workshop is designed for anyone wishing to update their knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 to the new 2026 standard, including:

• ISO 14001 EMS internal and lead auditors
• managers and individuals responsible for maintaining their organisations environmental management system (EMS) compliance.

Key topics covered in this short course include:

• changes to terminology (including those required by ISO’s harmonised structure for management systems standards)
• implications of restructuring clause 6.1 risks and opportunities
• new clause on ‘planning of changes’
• modified requirements for documented information
• clarification of management review documentation
• implications of the changes in the interpretive annex

The 3-hour ISO 14001:2016 Transition course will include modules and workshops, covering the following topics:

• Overview of the ISO 14001 revision process
• Key changes in the main text
• Implications of the changes in the interpretive annex
• Challenges for auditors
• Questions and close

Upon completion of this 3-hour ISO 14001 transition workshop, delegates will:

• understand the key changes introduced in ISO 14001:2026
• recognise the updates required to their organisation’s environmental management system
• appreciate the implications of these changes for auditors seeking to maintain ISO 14001:2026 compliance
