Find out how in March 2017 our ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Training Course helped David from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) review their current training content to ensure it was updated and delivered to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard at MOD. This was delivered as In-house training.

What were your training objectives?

I manage the courses that teach the Defence Systems Approach to Training model/toolkit to defence personnel. DSAT underpins all defence training, and contains an Assurance component that is aligned with ISO 9001:2015. I needed to know if our training still aligned with ISO, or if we had drifted since our material was initially based on ISO 9001:2008 and only ‘updated’ by reading out new defence policy book.

What learning did you take from the course?

The differences between a civilian ISO audit and the defence DSAT training audit. Our audit also has elements of consultancy within it, plus our 2nd and 3rd party audits differ in purpose.

I also learned a great deal about conducting an audit practically

Have you been able to apply anything since the course?

Yes, I have been able to improve our lessons that demonstrate the parallels between DSAT and ISO.

I’ve also been able to join the defence training audit team as a practitioner.

What have been the benefits for you and the business?

MOD DSAT training is now correctly aligned with ISO9001:2015. Our courses now have more relation to civilian best practice as well as the defence specific requirements.

Any advice to delegates?

Read the support materials in advance, they’re really rather good. Ask questions in the sessions, and join in with the practical work.

Would you recommend Bywater?

Yes I would. Lovely helpful company. Great course, fantastic trainer, quality resources and exactly what I needed.
